Nudism - Is It For You?
You're enjoying the first days of summer, far away from the stresses of work when you see a couple casually strolling down the beach with no clothes on.
If this ever happens to you, possibly your first reaction will be embarrassment followed by an uncontrollable compunction to stare.
In Australia, most naturists frequent legal nude resorts or nudity tolerant places that are not actually legislated. Usually they are discreet and avoid crowded areas such as ablution blocks. However, there are occasions when even the most discreet nudity can be a shock to those of us unprepared for it.
Perhaps the best reaction would be to ignore it. Australian nudists have a code of ethics that does not extend to public sex or harassment of Textiles. (That's their word for those of us who prefer to wear clothing)
If you are curious about nudity and perhaps envy that carefree couple in the sunshine on the beach just a tiny bit, you may wish to try and visit a legal nude resort for yourself.
Here are a few guidelines for the uninitiated. Nude resorts vary from partially clothed down to compulsory nudity and you will have to decide for yourself just how nude you wish to get before committing to a booking.
Check out with the resort before you make a reservation. Do they accept children? Is there entertainment for them?
Some resorts specifically cater for the gay or singles community. Married couples would not fit in with this kind of social scene, so it is vital to check first
. You may have to join a nudist club before booking. Try to choose a resort that does not insist on this until you are certain nudity really is for you.
Once you decide on a resort, go and enjoy yourself but bear in mind that for first timers, a certain amount of sexual arousal is very likely to happen. In nudist circles this is not a big deal. Men can cover the offending organ with a hat or lie face down on a towel for a while. Ladies, lather that sun block thick and white over your nipples.
Remember that even fully clothed people object to photographs being taken. This is even more important at a nudist resort. Bottom line – don't take photos of people unless they are personal family or friends and get their permission first.
Carry a towel with you. It will help if the wind picks up, or if the temperature drops suddenly, but it is also considered protocol to do so. Nobody wants to sit on a barstool where some else's naked buns have been. Spread the towel before sitting. It is a basic thing about manners and hygiene.
For first timers, clothing optional resorts are the best choice. This way you can unclothe yourself as much as you feel is right. It is important to feel comfortable with your nudity, so take it slowly at first.
Pack sunscreen lotion. The last time your buns saw the sun you were probably three years old. Sensitive skin will burn quickly. If you are not sun tolerant before you hit the nude beaches, it is an idea to expose yourself to the sun for a few minutes a day prior to your visit. Make your nude moments brief or you could end up at casualty!
Above all, relax, enjoy your holiday and make new friends.
